Description

IGT is seeking a Game Designer II to join their team in Belgrade. This role focuses on the creation and development of slot game ideas, concepts, themes, mechanics, features, and bonus flows. The designer will be responsible for defining the creative vision of the game, including graphical theme ideas, symbol direction, feature presentation, and key visual references. They will also define initial game design and math parameters, such as game flow, paytable direction, volatility target, hit frequency, RTP target, feature frequency, and bonus behaviour.

The successful candidate will create and maintain game design documentation, including game design documents, feature descriptions, rules, storyboards, art briefs, sound briefs, and math briefs. They will work closely with Producers, Mathematicians, Developers, Technical Artists, Artists, Animators, Sound Designers, and QA throughout the development process. This role also involves reviewing game builds and providing feedback on gameplay, pacing, feature clarity, art, sound, messaging, UI, and overall player experience. Additionally, the designer will guide third-party art vendors and in-house art teams to ensure artwork and presentation align with the game concept, and research slot game trends, successful mechanics, casino floor trends, and online slot innovations to support future game concepts. The role also supports compliance by ensuring game rules, features, messaging, and documentation align with relevant jurisdictions.

Responsibilities
  • Create original slot game ideas, concepts, themes, mechanics, features and bonus flows.
  • Develop the creative vision of the game, including graphical theme ideas, symbol direction, feature presentation and key visual references.
  • Define initial game design and math parameters, including game flow, paytable direction, volatility target, hit frequency, RTP target, feature frequency and bonus behaviour.
  • Create and maintain game design documentation, including game design documents, feature descriptions, rules, storyboard, art briefs, sound briefs and math briefs.
  • Work closely with Producers, Mathematicians, Developers, Technical Artists, Artists, Animators, Sound Designers and QA throughout development.
  • Review game builds and provide feedback on gameplay, pacing, feature clarity, art, sound, messaging, UI and overall player experience.

Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of slot game principles, mechanics, features and player experience (required).
  • Understanding of common slot concepts such as reels, paylines/ways, scatters, wilds, free spins, hold & spin, jackpots, bonuses, volatility, RTP, hit frequency and paytable structure (required).
  • Experience creating or contributing to slot game concepts, mechanics, game design documents, feature descriptions or game briefs (required).
  • Ability to clearly explain the creative vision of a slot game to art, sound, math, development and production teams (required).
  • Ability to create clear art, sound and math briefs for internal teams and external vendors (required).
  • Understanding of how game design, math, art, sound, animation and UI work together to create a complete player experience (required).
  • Good analytical thinking and ability to understand the relationship between mechanics, math parameters and player engagement (required).
  • Strong communication, collaboration and organisational skills (required).
  • Attention to detail and ability to review game builds against the approved design, rules, storyboard and feature specification (required).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint (required).
  • English language skills, written and spoken (required).
  • Experience in land-based gaming / casino floor slot games (nice-to-have).
  • Experience in online slots, social casino or real-money gaming (nice-to-have).
  • Experience working with mathematicians or game math documentation (nice-to-have).
  • Basic knowledge of probability, statistics, combinatorics or slot math principles (nice-to-have).
  • Experience with visual design tools, storyboarding tools, Photoshop or other art-editing software (nice-to-have).
  • Ability to create simple mockups, visual references, mood boards or feature sketches (nice-to-have).
  • Experience guiding third-party art vendors or external creative partners (nice-to-have).
  • Understanding of regulated gaming markets, certification processes or jurisdictional compliance requirements (nice-to-have).
  • Responsible use of AI tools for ideation, market research, concept exploration, visual reference creation, documentation support or productivity improvement (nice-to-have).
  • A passion for slot games, casino games and player-focused entertainment (nice-to-have).
