General Manager, Commercial
Reporting into the Chief Commercial Officer, this role forms part of the extended leadership team and will own and deliver the integrated Commercial, Corporate Development and Industry Relations portfolio, ensuring Sportsbet maximises value from strategic partnerships and commercial agreements.
To deliver on strategic ambitions, the GM Commercial role is accountable for Sportsbet’s commercial strategy and execution across existing and new commercial agreements, strategic partnerships, acquisition and business development opportunities, and external engagement with racing and sporting bodies.
The role provides executive-level leadership to identify growth opportunities, develop business cases, drive negotiation and governance of material agreements, and strengthen Sportsbet’s industry standing through effective stakeholder management, reporting, and integrity engagement.
- Drive end-to-end planning, performance visibility and prioritisation across commercial initiatives with a focus on business performance improvement and value realisation.
- Recognise and implement efficiency and cost reduction opportunities whilst maximising returns from commercial agreements.
- Identify wagering growth opportunities (core) and non-core adjacent opportunities (new revenue opportunities) by developing proposals, go-to-market strategies and secure internal/external approvals to deliver to market
- Lead end-to-end corporate development opportunities including M&A processes, deal thesis development, negotiation support and Board/Executive approval pathways.
- Establish and maintain governance for major agreements including performance measurement, compliance obligations and continuous improvement (including Executive and Leadership Team members)
- Develop and leverage relationships with strategic partners to deliver maximum value by identifying further partnership opportunities and optimise commercial outcomes.
- Lead engagement with principal racing authorities, sport controlling bodies and sector stakeholders by building an understanding of Sportsbet’s commercial priorities and contribution to the sector.
- 10+ years’ experience in senior commercial / corporate development roles (M&A, new business/market entry and strategic partnerships) (required).
- Experience managing diverse teams and leading cross-functional initiatives within a highly regulated and/or technology focused business (required).
- Strong commercial and analytical skills including complex financial, forecasting and valuation modelling (advanced Excel) (required).
- Commercial negotiation and contracting capability; ability to structure, evaluate and govern material agreements (required).
- Experience leading M&A / corporate development processes and business case development with the ability to design reporting frameworks and produce high-quality external collateral (required).
