Description

Reporting into the Head of Legal, this role involves providing commercially strategic legal expertise to support the business with decision making and ensure its operations are conducted within acceptable parameters with relevant legal and regulatory obligations.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in advising senior executives with a focus on the Commercial, Technology and Betting Product and Data departments.

The Senior Legal Counsel will be the key legal representative on the ‘Global Betting Platform’ Project and will play an integral role in various commercial workstreams that fall within this space.

There are two positions available within the legal team – one permanent and one 12 month maternity leave cover both supporting Corporate and Commercial.

Responsibilities
  • Providing advice (and managing advice provided by external lawyers) on legal and regulatory issues to broader business stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Partner with Commercial, Marketing and Finance (including Procurement) etc, to support them achieve their strategic objectives (eg. increased technology innovation and data protection / privacy).
  • Negotiating key agreements / major commercial transactions, including technology and service agreements, advice regarding data, privacy and regulatory risks.
  • Identifying and mitigating legal risks in contracts, operations and the conduct of the business, particularly in the Commercial and Technology departments.
Requirements
  • 5 - 8 years post admission experience within a leading top tier firm in either Commercial, Technology and Data Protection or Competition / Regulatory practice areas, or equivalent in-house experience (required).
  • Strong legal drafting and negotiating skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and escalations (required).
  • Experience in providing commercially focused legal support and innovative solutions (required).
