Data Engineering TL - Framework Team
<p>We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated <strong>Team Leader</strong> to head our <strong>Framework Team (Data DevOps)</strong>, a group that plays a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the core components of our Data Platform. This team is responsible for delivering robust automation, efficient CI/CD pipelines, and scalable frameworks that empower data engineering and analytics across the organization.</p><p>As a Team Leader, you will guide a team of engineers, foster technical excellence, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality solutions. You will work closely with infrastructure and data teams to evolve and optimize our technology stack with a strong emphasis on reliability, performance, and security.</p><p><strong>What you’ll be doing:</strong></p><p><strong>Leadership & Team Management</strong></p><ul><li>Lead, mentor, and develop a team of framework engineers.</li><li>Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Manage workload distribution, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.</li></ul><p><strong>Technical Ownership</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of <strong>Generic Framework</strong>, an in-house solution built on DBT and used across the data platform.</li><li>Establish and enforce best practices for CI/CD pipelines, process automation, and infrastructure as code.</li><li>Drive enhancements in monitoring, alerting, and overall observability of technical processes.</li></ul><p><strong>Platform Maintenance & Enhancements</strong></p><ul><li>Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data platform components.</li><li>Automate repetitive tasks to improve operational efficiency and reliability.</li><li>Develop and evolve generic frameworks that support data engineering workflows.</li><li>Monitor technical processes and ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.</li><li>Collaborate on new feature development, platform scalability, and architectural improvements.</li><li>Manage patching, rolling updates, and ongoing maintenance of the data platform’s technology stack.</li><li>Optimize the performance and reliability of frameworks, automation tools, and platform services.</li></ul><p><strong>Collaboration & Stakeholder Management</strong></p><ul><li>Partner closely with data engineering and infrastructure teams to align frameworks with business and technical needs.</li><li>Clearly communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions to relevant stakeholders.</li></ul><p><strong>Core Technologies</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Version Control & CI/CD:</strong> GitLab</li><li><strong>Data Transformation & Orchestration:</strong> DBT, Airflow</li><li><strong>Programming & Scripting:</strong> Python, Jinja, Bash (limited)</li><li><strong>Infrastructure & Cloud:</strong> Terraform, AWS (S3, Lambda, API Gateway, MSK)</li><li><strong>Containerization:</strong> Docker</li><li><strong>Data Platform:</strong> Snowflake</li><li><strong>Monitoring & Observability:</strong> New Relic</li><li><strong>Testing & QA:</strong> Behave</li><li><strong>Secrets Management:</strong> AWS Secrets Manager</li></ul>
<p><strong>What we’re looking for:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Technical Expertise:</strong> Strong hands-on experience with Python, CI/CD tooling, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).</li><li><strong>Leadership:</strong> Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and oversee complex, cross-functional projects.</li><li><strong>Problem-Solving:</strong> Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple layers of the technology stack.</li><li><strong>Communication:</strong> Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly.</li><li><strong></strong>5+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or related technical roles.</li><li>2+ years of experience in a leadership or team lead capacity.</li></ul><p><strong>Nice-to-Have</strong></p><ul><li>Experience working with modern data platforms such as Snowflake.</li><li>Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic).</li><li>Knowledge of behavior-driven development frameworks (e.g., Behave).</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><span class="ql-cursor"></span>What we offer:</strong></p><p>Our roles offer more than just a job, you’ll become part of the evoke family!
