Senior DevOps Engineer (Cloudflare)

Description

We are looking for a skilled Senior DevOps Engineer in our office in Serbia, Belgrade. This role involves managing and optimizing Edge Services across multiple providers including Cloudflare, Fastly, and Gcore, configuring DNS, CDN, Edge Computing, Access Control, and WAF policies. The engineer will design and implement cloud-agnostic failover strategies and high-availability solutions, monitor and fine-tune HTTP traffic handling, global load balancing, and caching strategies. Responsibilities also include orchestrating configurations for a large-scale domain portfolio with automated SSL/TLS provisioning, maintaining reusable and scalable configurations using Terraform or OpenTofu, and collaborating with security teams to implement robust Rate Limiting, DDoS mitigation, and Bot Management. The role requires participation in on-call rotations, performing root cause analysis, and tuning performance for edge and application layers. Additionally, edge configuration changes will be integrated into CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and rigorous testing.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and optimize Edge Services across multiple providers, including Cloudflare, Fastly, and Gcore. This includes configuring DNS, CDN, Edge Computing (Snippets/Workers), Access Control, and WAF policies.
  • Design and implement cloud-agnostic failover strategies and high-availability solutions to ensure service continuity, preventing vendor lock-in and dependency on a single provider.
  • Monitor and fine-tune HTTP traffic handling, global load balancing (GSLB), and caching strategies to minimize latency and optimize content delivery at a global scale.
  • Orchestrate configurations for a large-scale domain portfolio, including automated SSL/TLS provisioning and unified security policy enforcement across different platforms.
  • Maintain reusable and scalable configurations using Terraform or OpenTofu to manage diverse provider environments, ensuring infrastructure is auditable and consistent.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement robust Rate Limiting, DDoS mitigation, and Bot Management across the network and application layers.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and tune performance for both edge and application layers using centralized monitoring tools.
  • Integrate edge configuration changes into CI/CD pipelines, automating deployments and ensuring rigorous testing of infrastructure changes.
Requirements
  • 2+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability, or related roles with a focus on Cloudflare services.
  • Solid understanding of HTTP protocol, caching principles, and CDN concepts.
  • Experience managing Cloudflare DNS, Firewall Rules, Page Rules, Workers, and related services.
  • Strong knowledge of Nginx (or similar: Envoy, HAProxy) for reverse proxy and load balancing.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code concepts and practical experience with Terraform.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, and security best practices.
  • Experience working with Linux environments and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
  • Experience with Cloudflare Enterprise features (Argo, advanced caching, Cloudflare Workers KV).
  • Experience with performance testing and analysis tools for CDN and edge optimization.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration systems (Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
  • Basic security knowledge (SSL management, security headers).
Benefits
  • Learning and development opportunities and interesting challenging tasks;
  • Relocation package (tickets, staying in a hotel for 2 weeks);
  • Opportunity to develop language skills and partial compensation for the cost of language classes;
  • Birthday celebration present;
  • Time for proper rest and 23 working days of Annual Vacation;
