Engineering Manager
Entain is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead software design, drive system robustness, and ensure the delivery of scalable solutions. The role requires a blend of technical leadership and project execution to guide complex initiatives while optimising team performance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving technology transformation and developing high-performing teams. Entain seeks an experienced leader with a deep background in Java, API development, and modern architecture practices to help shape the future of their engineering success.
- Lead technology modernisation, evolving legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native architectures.
- Break down complex projects while upholding high design standards, with hands-on Java/.NET/Python expertise for backend and API-driven services.
- Define project scope and influence engineering direction with a focus on modern backend architecture and MACH principles.
- Optimise performance, code quality, and uptime; drive visibility through engineering metrics.
- Champion new Ways of Working to boost agility, innovation, and delivery excellence.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align execution with priorities.
- Mentor engineers on MACH architecture, cloud platforms, and service-oriented patterns.
- Support recruitment and promote tech brand through open-source work, talks, and community engagement.
- Java/.NET/Python programming and scalable backend development (required)
- API-first design, REST/GraphQL services, and third-party integrations (required)
- MACH architecture: Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless systems (required)
- Proven success in technology modernisation and transformation (required)
- Agile development and SDLC; CI/CD, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and DevOps culture (required)
- Secure web development, AI/ML exposure, and Microservices/SOA (required)
- Change management, technology governance, and engineering metrics (required)
- Set clear technical vision aligned with business and product strategy (required)
- Build and scale teams rooted in trust, innovation, and continuous learning (required)
- 3+ years of experience managing multi-pod engineering teams of up to 40 members (required)
