Description

This is a complex, senior role where you’ll own the technology strategy, delivery, and platform health for Bingo, acting as a senior partner to Product and Commercial to drive business outcomes in a fast‑moving, product‑driven environment. You will own the Bingo technology strategy, ensuring alignment to product vision, commercial goals, and operator outcomes. You will provide hands-on technical leadership staying close enough to the code to guide quality and architecture, particularly on Java backend systems. You will drive architecture and technical decision‑making for complex, scalable platforms. You will act as the primary technology partner to Product and key stakeholders, shaping solutions, influencing decisions, and translating requirements into practical technical solutions. You will lead and develop engineering teams, setting clear direction, standards, and accountability while mentoring senior engineers, helping raise engineering standards and best practices. You will collaborate closely with multiple stakeholders across units, owning delivery predictability, balancing short term delivery with long term technical strategy and platform sustainability. You will play a key role in the transition and evolution of the team structure, supporting continuity and future growth. You will ensure platform scalability, stability, security, and regulatory compliance across all markets. You will manage and reduce technical debt, making trade-offs aligned to business impact and delivery risk. You will drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, tooling, and ways of working to improve efficiency and quality. You will ensure predictable releases, strong production stability, and rapid resolution of incidents and escalations.

Responsibilities
  • Own the Bingo technology strategy, ensuring alignment to product vision, commercial goals, and operator outcomes
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership staying close enough to the code to guide quality and architecture, particularly on Java backend systems

Requirements
  • Have strong hands‑on Java backend experience in complex, production‑scale environments
  • Bring proven experience in technical leadership within senior or lead engineering roles
  • Are comfortable balancing coding, architectural thinking, and people leadership
  • Can clearly communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
  • Have experience operating in cross‑functional, multi‑team environments
  • Demonstrate a pragmatic mindset focused on quality, scalability, and maintainability
  • Experience owning technology outcomes in a complex, commercially driven environment
  • Experience working across multiple business units or domains
  • Exposure to high‑performance or high‑availability systems
  • A background that combines engineering excellence with strategic thinking
  • Experience contributing to hiring, interviewing, and technical evaluation of senior candidates
