Payroll Finance Analyst
The Payroll Finance Analyst contributes to supporting the financial governance, integrity, and reporting of UK and other global payroll operations. Working with the Global Payroll Compliance Manager, the role ensures accurate payroll-related accounting, supports audit and compliance activities, and guides process improvements across payroll finance operations. The position requires a combination of payroll expertise and financial analysis, necessitating strong capability and partner collaboration.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Finance Services for payroll-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolution of discrepancies.
- Create and post payroll journals following financial control frameworks and deadlines.
- Investigate and resolve variances between payroll outputs and financial records.
- Manage employee debt recovery balances, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment.
- Process and monitor necessary balance sheet adjustments related to payroll corrections, overpayments, and recoveries.
- Process and manage departmental payroll-related invoices, ensuring approval and accurate coding.
- Communicate with Finance and Accounts Payable teams and external payroll providers to resolve invoice queries.
- Produce regular and ad hoc payroll financial reports, including cost analysis, variance reporting, and statutory reporting insights.
- Support partners with payroll cost data and analysis to inform decision-making.
- Provide administrative support for payroll audits (internal and external).
- Maintain documentation and audit trails following compliance requirements.
- Support adherence to UK payroll legislation and internal financial controls.
- Implement process improvement and AI opportunities across payroll finance activities.
- Support automation, standardisation, and efficiency plans to enhance control and reduce manual effort.
- Collaborate with wider payroll, finance, and HR teams on continuous improvement projects.
- Bachelor's degree or M.Com or MBA (Finance) in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. (required)
- 3+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Payroll Finance, R2R, General Ledger, or Shared Services responsibilities. (required)
- Experience in balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close activities, and financial reporting. (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis. (required)
- Part-qualified or pursuing a professional finance qualification such as CA, CMA, ACCA, or CIMA. (required)
- Experience in payroll accounting or payroll operations. (required)
- Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar finance platforms. (required)
- Experience supporting audits, compliance activities, and process improvement projects. (required)
