Senior Frontend Engineer

Description

We are looking for an all-star Frontend Engineer with strong Typescript experience to join our team in Stockholm, Sweden. You’ll primarily be working on improving the Checkout experience for millions of customers across Europe. You are a frontend developer by heart, who is eager to take responsibility and drive things end-to-end.

The Payment Experience team manages the paying and deposit product at Trustly, which is one of our core offerings. The team is a mix of frontend and backend engineers, working closely with UX and neighbouring teams. On a daily basis, the team focuses on improving existing product flows and managing new or changing integrations, with the aim to create the highest converting payment product on the market.

Responsibilities
  • Be a part of our payment team and build the UI for the next-generation payment platform using React .
  • Learn new methods and techniques in a team where pair and mob programming is part of the daily methodology.
  • Work closely with other developers, UX Designers, and product owners on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a high focus on writing clean, testable code.
  • Analyze large volumes of data to find possible problems and propose performance improvements.
  • Identify performance issues and propose solutions.
  • Support new developers on the company and train them on the development process, patterns, and features.
  • Participate in functional meetings with non-engineering teams, offering knowledge of all front-end features and skills to propose solutions.
  • Be able to participate in incident meetings and create an action plan.
  • Drive technical initiatives from ideation to completion, influencing how your team collaborates and ships code.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software; take full responsibility for the lifecycle of your code.
Requirements
  • Expert understanding and deep practical knowledge of state management, API integration, and frontend testing frameworks, ensuring robust and maintainable code
  • Highly skilled in JavaScript/TypeScript, including ES6+ features, asynchronous operations, and contemporary web development methodologies.
  • Significant practical experience with current web frameworks such as React.
  • Demonstrated success in building fast, high-performance web applications, with a focus on speed optimisation, adherence to accessibility standards (WCAG), and reliable cross-browser functionality.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) practices.
  • Familiar with using AI-tools in software development.
  • Ability to navigate across the entire technology stack, not limited to the frontend scope.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
