Software Engineer, Rust & Python (Asset Pricing & Hedging)
Description
At Bitpanda, we’re building the trading and pricing infrastructure that powers investing across crypto, stocks, ETFs, metals, and fiat currencies. In this role, you’ll help design and scale high-performance backend systems in Rust, while using Python for tooling and services that support our broader platform ecosystem. You’ll work on low-latency, event-driven systems that enable fast, reliable, and seamless trading experiences for millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Build and scale high-performance backend systems in Rust that power Bitpanda’s trading and pricing infrastructure
- Develop microservices and internal tooling using Python across a distributed systems environment
- Design clean, reliable, and maintainable solutions within an event-driven architecture
- Work on real-time systems handling market data, pricing, hedging, and asset management across multiple asset classes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system scalability, reliability, and performance
Requirements
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable, production-grade systems (required)
- Strong hands-on experience with Rust (required)
- Solid working knowledge of Python (required)
- Experience with distributed systems (required)
- Experience with asynchronous programming (required)
- Experience with event-driven architectures (required)
- Familiarity with REST APIs (required)
- Familiarity with websockets (required)
- Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases (required)
- Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka or ZeroMQ (required)
- Experience with AWS (preferred)
- Experience with trading platforms (preferred)
- Experience with market data systems (preferred)
- An interest in crypto and financial markets (nice-to-have)
