QA Engineer
The Manual QA Engineer administers and applies established manual testing practices to ensure product quality. This role involves assisting with routine test planning and execution activities across UI, API, and performance checks in an operational delivery environment.
The engineer works on moderate-scope problems, exercising judgment within defined procedures. There is some autonomy with some direction, especially on new tasks. The role primarily interacts within the QA team and starts to partner with adjacent teams to exchange factual information such as build notes, reproduction steps, and priorities. The engineer receives some direction and periodic check-ins for routine work, with detailed instructions on new assignments.
- Coordinate and apply defined test cases, checklists, and regression suites.
- Process results from test execution and respond to observed defects following set procedures.
- Assist in test data preparation and environment readiness.
- Coordinate with developers to reproduce routine issues.
- Collect and collate test evidence (screenshots, logs, DB records) to support defect reports and release sign-off packages.
- Perform routine smoke/sanity/regression tests and operational checks aligned to agreed plans and policies.
- Respond to changes in scope by updating assigned test cases under guidance.
- Process defect retests and closure steps.
- 2-4 years confirmed experience in software testing (or less if holding an advanced degree or equivalent experience) (required).
- Familiarity with test case management and defect tracking tools (required).
- Basic understanding of UI/API/performance test concepts for manual execution (required).
- Exposure to TestRail/Jira (preferred).
- Exposure to REST clients (preferred).
- Exposure to browser dev tools (preferred).
- ISTQB Foundation (or similar) (preferred).
