Online gambling has been licensed for Romanian players since 2015, when the National Gambling Office (ONJN) issued its first online licences under a law passed that year. Because the domestic market is regulated, Romania has its own operators to work for, not only the local offices of foreign suppliers. The best known is Superbet, founded in Bucharest in 2008, which keeps its headquarters in the city and builds its own betting technology there, alongside tech hubs in Zagreb and London. It now also operates in Poland, Serbia, Belgium and Brazil, so a role at its Bucharest headquarters can lead to work on several national markets.

The market has become more expensive to operate in.
