Software Engineering Manager
The Software Engineering Manager is an integral member of the UberWins Leadership Team, helping drive the technical organisation into the future. As the Manager, the individual oversees software development efforts and collaborates closely with technical leaders across Platform, GDK, and Server teams. They mentor, coach, and develop engineers and technical artists while leveraging AI and other in-house tools to enhance productivity, innovation, and technical excellence.
In this role, the individual has significant influence on the overall technical strategy by helping define product features, driving development across multiple markets, and spearheading best practices that enable the delivery of high-quality products. The Manager champions continuous improvement in development processes and helps foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence. - Manage the day-to-day activities of the Engineering and Technical Artist teams, ensuring project milestones, delivery commitments, and quality expectations are consistently met.
- Own the software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, prioritisation, design, implementation, testing, and deployment within the studio development environment.
- Define, manage, and continuously improve software and product development processes in partnership with engineers, technical artists, and other stakeholders.
- Coach, mentor, and develop high-performing engineers and technical artists, fostering technical growth, leadership capabilities, and a culture of innovation, accountability, and inclusion.
- Leverage AI and internal development tools to improve team productivity, efficiency, and quality throughout the development process.
- Drive operational excellence by establishing, monitoring, and improving key engineering metrics, processes, and system health indicators.
- Manage team resources, staffing, performance, career development, and succession planning to maintain a best-in-class engineering organisation, including conducting regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
- Lead the development and delivery of software solutions that support the studio's portfolio and strategic objectives.
- Identify priorities, evaluate technical risks and dependencies, and communicate technology impacts throughout the decision-making process.
- Analyze technical solutions and make recommendations based on technical feasibility, scalability, maintainability, and financial considerations.
- Partner effectively with QA, Platform, GDK, and Server teams to deliver exceptional gaming experiences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or its equivalent (required)
- Gaming experience (preferred)
- 5+ years of people management experience, managing engineers (required)
- Experience partnering with product OR program management teams (required)
- Experience managing, motivating, and retaining high-performance engineering teams (required)
- Ability to affect positive change, empower people, cultivate product technology visions and innovative solutions (required)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information and negotiate tradeoffs with a variety of audiences (required)
- Experienced decision maker with the ability to articulate product vision and roadmap (required)
- 5+ years’ experience as a software developer, subject matter expert, and strategic influencer on the direction of the product design and development (required)
