Release Platform Engineer

Description

As a Release Platform Engineer, the successful candidate will build the automated guardrails that keep global development pipelines moving safely, transparently, and at speed. The Regulatory Support team provides the critical infrastructure that allows development teams to ship software with confidence. This team builds and maintains the platforms that automate release approvals and software-change auditing, ensuring every deployment is traceable and compliant.

Bet365 requires the engineer to manage the source-code-management estate, including GitLab, Sourcegraph, and supporting services like token rotation. By leveraging Python, Go, React, and TypeScript, the engineer will create in-house applications, from compliance dashboards to automated release engines, that solve complex engineering challenges. Automation is central to this role, where the engineer will identify repetitive tasks and use AI tools to reduce toil. This is a high-impact role where the work directly influences how software is delivered at scale. This role includes an on-call requirement and is eligible for inclusion in the company’s hybrid work from home policy.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and improve release and compliance platforms built in Python and Go.
  • Support automated release approvals and software-change auditing.
  • Administer the source-code-management tooling estate and supporting services.
  • Develop and maintain user interfaces using React and TypeScript.
  • Ensure application availability and resolve issues across the platform estate.
  • Write automation and integrations to reduce manual toil.
  • Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform; containerise services with Docker on Kubernetes (GKE) hosted on GCP.
  • Participate in on-call services as a technical escalation point.
  • Build dashboards and alerts to monitor pipeline reliability.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues across the wider engineering function.
Requirements
  • Commercial experience in software engineering, DevOps, or platform roles (required)
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Go or Bash (required)
  • Strong understanding of version control systems like GitLab and Artifactory (required)
  • Practical knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems (required)
  • Hands-on experience with AI-native engineering, including LLM platforms and prompt engineering (required)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code using Terraform (required)
  • Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL and AlloyDB (required)
  • Frontend development skills using React and TypeScript (required)
  • Understanding of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk (required)
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards within source-code management (required)
