Manager Banking Operations

- Lead and manage a shift-based team of approximately 30 team members, ensuring full shift coverage and strong leadership presence.
- Oversee day-to-day floor operations, including workload allocation, escalation handling, and real-time problem-solving.
- Ensure reconciliation, payment processing, and exception handling processes are executed accurately and on time.
- Monitor and manage KPIs, SLAs, and quality metrics, driving corrective actions where needed.
- Build and scale the team through effective hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning.
- Develop team leads and supervisors, ensuring clear accountability and escalation structures.
- Manage rosters, shift schedules, leave planning, and overtime to maintain consistent operational coverage.
- Identify process inefficiencies or risks and partner with engineering and product teams to drive improvements.
- Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Product, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure operational readiness for new launches and markets.
- 5+ years’ experience in banking, payments, or financial services operations (required).
- At least 2+ years managing large teams (15+ people) in a shift-based environment (required).
- Proven ability to build, scale, and develop high-performing operational teams (required).
- Strong understanding of reconciliation, payment processing, and exception handling workflows (required).
- Demonstrated ability to enforce process discipline and operational excellence at scale (required).
- Experience managing rosters and shift coverage in a 24/7 or extended-hours environment (required).
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across Product, Finance, and leadership teams (required).
- Data-driven mindset, with experience working with performance metrics and reporting dashboards (required).
- Resilience, adaptability, and a hands-on leadership approach (required).
- Experience working across multiple African markets in banking or payments (nice-to-have).
- Exposure to reconciliation or automation tools (e.g. AutoRek, Duco, ReconArt, BlackLine) (nice-to-have).
- A formal qualification in operations management, business, or finance (nice-to-have).
