Senior Software Engineer
This role focuses on the development and maintenance of microservices at an enterprise scale, requiring a candidate who can demonstrate significant impact on architectural decisions and system optimisation.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and drive high-level design discussions. The role involves taking ownership of production systems, leading incident responses, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, performant software solutions within the online gaming sector.
- Build and maintain microservices at enterprise scale.
- Lead design discussions and influence architecture without formal authority.
- Perform system optimisation and debugging of complex scenarios.
- Lead incident response, post-mortems, and operational improvement efforts.
- Maintain composure and lead through high-severity production challenges.
- Apply SOLID principles, design patterns, and refactoring practices to ensure software quality.
- 8+ years of backend software development experience (required).
- 3+ years in a senior or equivalent role (required).
- Expert-level proficiency in .NET 8+ and C# 12+ (required).
- Strong experience with Dapper or EF Core (required).
- Advanced SQL Server skills including query tuning, indexing, execution plans, and statistics (required).
- Deep understanding of ACID, isolation levels, deadlocks, sharding, and partitioning (required).
- Redis expertise in distributed caching and invalidation strategies (beneficial).
- Elasticsearch experience including indexing, search and aggregation performance optimizations (beneficial).
- Microservices design: boundaries, communication patterns, service reliability (required).
- Event-driven architecture: RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Azure Service Bus (required).
- API design (REST / gRPC), backward compatibility, and versioning strategies (required).
- Advanced Azure DevOps pipeline design and release management (required).
- Experience with logging, tracing, and performance monitoring (OpenTelemetry) (beneficial).
- Deep experience with testing automation across all testing layers (required).
- Strong understanding of SOLID principles, design patterns, and refactoring practices (required).
- Performance profiling, optimization, and debugging complex scenarios (required).
- Experience leading incident response, post-mortems, and operational improvement efforts (required).
- Ability to maintain composure and lead through high-severity production challenges (required).
