Description

The Director of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the continued design, development, and implementation of products, platforms, and systems, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards and are in alignment with strategic goals. This individual plays a critical role in shaping the technology strategy, ensuring customer satisfaction, driving revenue growth, and leading a team towards successful development and delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies and plans to ensure efficient and effective product development and delivery across digital sportsbook, gaming, and retail product areas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance to define engineering requirements and priorities.
  • Coordinate and prioritise engineering requirements ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices, processes, and standards throughout the organisation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality in engineering processes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and creativity within the development team encouraging new ideas and concepts.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements, evaluating and recommending new technologies or methodologies for adoption.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s overall business strategy.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define and achieve engineering goals and objectives.
  • Engage with existing 3rd party support companies for the development and delivery of the company product and growth strategy.
  • Engage with new 3rd parties to deliver the company product and growth strategy as and when required.
  • Work closely with the Head of Product and Head of Programme as and when required in delivering product delivery plans for the business.
  • Deputise for the CTO as and when required.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, managing and mentoring a team of developers (required)
  • 10+ years in delivery management or engineering leadership, ideally in fast-paced, regulated industries such as gaming, fintech or sports betting (required)
  • Strong technical background and understanding of software and hardware development processes (required)
  • Proficient in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and lead change in a dynamic environment (required)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels (required)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions and recommendations (required)
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget (required)
  • Understanding of industry regulations and compliance standards (required)
  • Ability to think strategically and align engineering activities with business objectives (required)
  • Fast learner to understand current architecture and processes and plan for core architecture activity to support the company growth plans (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (nice-to-have)
  • Certifications such as PMP, AWS or Agile/Scrum (nice-to-have)
  • Experience coordinating delivery across multiple engineering locations or hubs (nice-to-have)
  • Familiarity with domain-driven organisation and team topologies (nice-to-have)
