Assistant Accountant

Description

The Assistant Accountant will support the delivery of all aspects of the finance function in the IP and Tech Group. This role is crucial for meeting deadlines timeously and delivering reports to senior management and shareholders to assist with their decision-making processes.

The Assistant Accountant will take ownership of key financial tasks, including vendor onboarding and verification, maintaining vendor master data, and capturing invoices, accruals, and prepayments. The position also involves preparing weekly payments, processing intercompany billings, recording asset transactions, and running depreciation and foreign exchange processes. Collaboration with team members to achieve financial KPIs, clear communication, and proactive stakeholder management are essential. The role also includes assisting with internal and external audits and ensuring SOX compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Vendor onboarding, including bank account verification call-backs.
  • Maintaining vendor master data.
  • Capture all invoices, accruals, and prepayments - Ensuring all postings are correct by product, region, platform, brand and game, where appropriate.
  • Prepare weekly payments, ensuring that the correct amounts and suppliers are paid.
  • Process all intercompany and intergroup billings.
  • Record PPE & intangible asset transactions including additions and disposals in the accounting system.
  • Run depreciation and foreign exchange (FX) processes.
  • Assisting with Monthly FloQast reconciliations & commentary.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant team members to achieve agreed financial KPIs.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Ensure that critical information and updates are shared appropriately with relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage expectations proactively and address potential issues before they escalate.
  • Participate in the bi‑annual objective‑setting and performance review process.
  • Assist with internal and external audit deliverables.
  • Ensure that all controls are adhered to, documented, and implemented for SOX compliance.
Requirements
  • B.Com financial accounting degree or related qualification (required)
  • Minimum 1-3 years accounting experience (required)
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience (required)
  • Experience in preparing variance analysis commentary (required)
  • Experience in accounts payable or finance administration role (required)
  • Experience in fixed / intangible asset management (required)
  • Clear, confident communication (written and verbal), and the ability to breakdown complex ideas (required)
  • A collaborative mindset, working smoothly with cross‑functional teams to hit shared goals (required)
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects without dropping the ball (required)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality work (required)
  • Adaptability – you stay sharp, productive and positive in fast‑moving environments (required)
  • Time management and organisational skills (required)
  • Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry (nice-to-have)
  • Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal standards (nice-to-have)
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics Navision or Business Central (nice-to-have)
  • Experience in FloQast (Month end reconciliation tool) (nice-to-have)
  • Experience in IBM Planning Analytics/TM1/Cognos (nice-to-have)
  • Experience with SOX Compliance and/or Internal controls (nice-to-have)
