Description

The Assistant Accountant will play a key part in delivering a world-class finance operational function, getting hands-on with gaming operational cost items. The role involves managing accounts payable, supporting month-end reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and audit requirements.

This position requires a proactive individual who can collaborate effectively with finance team members and broader business stakeholders. The Assistant Accountant will contribute to process improvements and maintain accurate financial records to support the company's growth and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all supplier invoices are aligned with approved contracts and supporting documentation.
  • Source, review, and capture supplier invoices received for payment in Business Central.
  • Prepare and submit payment requests and payment requisitions in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with invoice due dates.
  • Obtain supplier statements regularly to facilitate accurate payments and ensure all monthly purchases are accounted for.
  • Match vendor invoices to payments in Business Central on a weekly basis and resolve any discrepancies identified.
  • Prepare monthly vendor reconciliations for review and approval, ensuring all reconciliations are signed off after review.
  • Review and approve purchase orders raised by stakeholders across the business.
  • Assist in updating Opex files, ensuring balances reconcile to Cognos.
  • Prepare initial Opex commentary for review by the Financial Accountant.
  • Assist the Financial Accountant with Opex and Open Items commentary required for month-end reporting.
  • Support the month-end process by rolling forward reporting files using Cognos data.
  • Update prepayment and deposit schedules, ensuring all supporting comments and explanations are completed accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements by providing accurate and timely information.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant financial records.
  • Assist with EFT sampling, invoice extraction, and the provision of supporting audit documentation.
  • Draft and maintain process documentation outlining how and why key monthly activities are performed to support business continuity.
  • Ensure all financial records and documentation are appropriately archived.
  • Perform additional ad hoc duties and projects as required from time to time.
  • Collaborate effectively with all members of the finance team and broader business stakeholders.
  • Communicate proactively with managers and team members to ensure key deliverables are achieved within agreed timelines.
  • Escalate potential issues, risks, or delays promptly to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear, professional, and effective communication at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Share relevant information and updates with team members to ensure alignment and awareness across the team.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations effectively and communicate potential challenges in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Participate in the bi-annual performance management process, including the setting and review of KPIs and objectives.
Requirements

  • Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • 1-3 years accounting experience in a similar role (required)
  • Experience in performing reconciliations and preparing variance analysis commentary (required)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (required)
  • Demonstrates consistent behaviour aligned to the Organizational Performance & Culture (required)
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy (required)
  • Proficient on MS Office applications, especially Excel and Word (required)
  • In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, including odds calculation, betting types and market trends (nice-to-have)
  • Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, with a strong understanding of player behaviour and industry regulations (nice-to-have)
  • Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal standards (nice-to-have)
  • Experience in developing and executing customer retention strategies (nice-to-have)
  • Experience in Microsoft Business Central (nice-to-have)
