Control Account Specialist - Crypto
The Crypto Control Account Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all cryptocurrency-related financial records and control accounts. This role plays a critical part in reconciling blockchain-based transactions with internal financial systems, identifying discrepancies, and strengthening financial controls in a fast-paced, regulated digital environment.
The role involves taking ownership of financial control and reconciliation, transaction monitoring, and data integrity. It requires collaborating with various internal teams to improve processes and support audit and governance standards.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of crypto control accounts across wallets, exchanges, and internal ledgers.
- Prepare and upload month-end balance sheet reconciliations (via FloQast or equivalent tools).
- Reconcile crypto purchases and deposits, refunds and withdrawals, trading and settlement transactions, fraud-related adjustments.
- Ensure timely resolution of reconciling items, with clear audit trails.
- Maintain a complete and accurate record of all cryptocurrency transactions across supported tokens and platforms.
- Validate transaction data by comparing blockchain records, third-party provider data, and internal systems.
- Investigate anomalies such as missing or duplicate transactions, incorrect valuations, timing differences.
- Ensure proper cut-off and period allocation of all transactions.
- Identify, escalate, and document financial discrepancies, control weaknesses, and compliance risks.
- Support AML/KYT monitoring processes by providing accurate transactional data and insights.
- Ensure adherence to internal financial control frameworks, regulatory requirements relevant to crypto and payments.
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
- Produce periodic reports including crypto balances and movement summaries, fraud and exception reports, variance analysis and trend insights.
- Provide clear commentary on financial movements and reconciliation outcomes.
- Support management with data-driven insights to improve financial decision-making.
- Continuously evaluate and improve reconciliation processes for efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
- Recommend and implement automation opportunities, process standardization, control enhancements.
- Collaborate with Technology teams to optimise system integrations and data flows.
- Work closely with Finance teams (GL, reporting, treasury), Risk & Compliance, Operations and Payments teams, Technology and Data teams.
- Act as a subject matter expert for crypto reconciliation and control queries.
- Support internal and external audits by providing reconciliations, documentation, and explanations.
- Ensure all processes meet audit and governance standards.

- 3+ years in finance, accounting, or reconciliations, with exposure to crypto or digital assets (required)
- Relevant finance or accounting qualification (required)
- Practical understanding of blockchain transaction flows and wallet structures (required)
- Experience working with crypto on/off-ramp providers, exchanges, or payment platforms, including crypto–fiat settlement processes (required)
- Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry (nice-to-have)
- Experience working with multi-token or high-volume transactional platforms (nice-to-have)
- Experience in fintech, gaming, or crypto-native environments (nice-to-have)
