Data Engineer II
Super Group is building experiences that wow its customers, and that starts with bold, curious people who want to do work that matters. As the Data Engineer II, this individual will play a key part in delivering the pipelines and data solutions that keep Super Group's data accurate, complete, and on time. They will be hands-on with designing, building, and owning data pipelines with increasing independence, and mentoring more junior engineers. The drive and ideas of the Data Engineer II will help Super Group move faster, improve smarter, and stay ahead of the game.
This role involves taking ownership of work that gives Super Group its competitive edge. The Data Engineer II will design and build data pipelines with increasing independence, owning the end-to-end build of moderately complex ETL/ELT pipelines from design through to production. They will make sound technical decisions within established architecture patterns, and own data quality and completeness for their area. This includes designing and implementing data quality and completeness checks for the pipelines they own, investigating and resolving data issues by identifying root causes rather than just symptoms.
Furthermore, the Data Engineer II will support and mentor junior engineers, review code and designs from Data Engineer Level I, and provide constructive feedback. They will help onboard new engineers to the team's tools and patterns. Taking ownership of operational health for their pipelines is also a key responsibility, including responding to and resolving incidents in their area, and improving monitoring and alerting where gaps exist. Keeping documentation and data contracts for pipelines current is essential, as is contributing to engineering practice improvements, such as CI/CD, testing, and coding standards. Active participation in design discussions and technical decision-making is also expected.
