Senior Lead Software Engineer, Android
As a Senior Lead Mobile Engineer, you'll be the technical force behind our most ambitious mobile initiatives. In this role, you'll shape architectural strategy, lead high-impact Android projects from concept through delivery, and set the engineering standards that elevate our mobile platform.
You'll partner with leaders in Product, Design, and Backend Engineering to align technical execution with strategic goals, mentor engineers across levels, and ensure our Android applications are built for scalability, performance, and longevity.
- Own the architecture, design, and delivery of complex, cross-functional Android initiatives from inception through launch.
- Lead technical strategy for Android development, shaping frameworks, tools, and patterns adopted across the organisation.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps that align with business priorities.
- Architect modular, scalable Android codebases using Jetpack libraries, Jetpack Compose, and modern development practices.
- Oversee API integration strategies, state management, and advanced performance optimisation.
- Conduct architectural reviews to ensure solutions meet performance, maintainability, and scalability goals.
- Mentor and coach engineers across teams, offering guidance on complex technical challenges and professional growth.
- Partner with QA and DevOps to advance CI/CD pipelines, testing automation, and release processes for maximum reliability.
- Stay ahead of Android ecosystem trends and champion technologies to give our products a competitive edge.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any relevant combination of education, experience, and training. (required)
- At least 7 years of professional Android development experience, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale mobile applications. (required)
- Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin, Android SDKs, and advanced architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture). (required)
- Extensive experience leading technical strategy, architecture design, and implementation for enterprise-grade apps. (required)
- Deep understanding of asynchronous programming with Kotlin coroutines, flows, and reactive streams. (required)
- Strong experience with Jetpack Compose, custom view development, animations, and UI performance tuning. (required)
- Proven ability to integrate RESTful APIs, manage complex application state, and ensure robust data persistence. (required)
- Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management. (required)
- Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills, with a proven ability to influence technical direction at scale and mentor teams through complex challenges. (required)
- Experience with Redux patterns, functional programming, or exposure to multi-platform mobile development is a plus. (nice-to-have)
- US base salary range for this full-time position is 160,700.00 USD - 200,900.00 USD, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable.
