Senior Platform Engineer
As a Senior Platform Engineer, the successful candidate will build and enhance the tools, systems, and infrastructure that enable engineering teams across DraftKings to develop and deploy software reliably at scale. Using C#/.NET, Kubernetes, GitOps, and cloud technologies, the role involves solving complex infrastructure challenges, improving developer workflows, and creating scalable, automated platform solutions that support growing products.
The role requires a focus on building platform capabilities, managing Kubernetes-based environments, and applying GitOps practices to improve deployment automation. The engineer will partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions, contribute to engineering best practices, and mentor other team members to ensure operational excellence.
- Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain platform capabilities used by engineering teams across DraftKings.
- Develop clean, scalable, and maintainable software, primarily using C# and .NET Core.
- Build and improve platform infrastructure through software engineering and automation to enable reliable and efficient application delivery.
- Manage and enhance Kubernetes-based environments, including automating deployments using Helm Charts.
- Apply GitOps practices to improve deployment automation, consistency, and reliability.
- Build solutions for distributed systems and microservice environments with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and performance.
- Troubleshoot complex application and infrastructure issues across distributed environments.
- Partner with engineering teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Conduct code reviews, contribute to engineering best practices, and mentor other engineers.
- Improve observability, performance testing, deployment strategies, and operational excellence across the platform.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience, ideally with experience in C# and .NET Core (required)
- Experience building and supporting distributed systems and microservice architectures (required)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and modern application deployment practices (required)
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and an understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) (required)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues across complex distributed environments (required)
- Understanding of modern deployment strategies, including canary and blue-green deployments (required)
- Familiarity with GitOps methodologies and infrastructure and application deployment automation (required)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP (required)
- Familiarity with observability platforms such as Datadog and the ELK Stack (required)
- Experience with end-to-end performance testing at scale (nice-to-have)
