Senior Software Engineer, Backend
DraftKings is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join an innovative technology team focused on engineering high-performance systems that scale to support millions of transactions each week. - Design and build systems and APIs that power experiences for millions of users across platforms.
- Develop scalable, high-performance services and applications in a cloud-native environment.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product and Architecture teams to bring new ideas to life.
- Ensure code quality with comprehensive test coverage including unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Respond to production incidents and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
- Own the health and performance of the services built, with a strong focus on scalability and reliability.
- Participate in code and design reviews, elevating engineering excellence across the team.
- Stay adaptable in a fast-paced environment that values flexibility, iteration, and continuous learning.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any relevant combination of education, experience, and training (required).
- At least 3 years of software development experience using object-oriented languages like Java or C# (required).
- A strong grasp of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and scalable software architecture (required).
- At least 1 year of experience working with relational databases (required).
- Proven experience developing in cloud environments like AWS, including microservices and containerization such as Docker and Kubernetes (required).
- A track record of writing and maintaining automated test suites across multiple levels (required).
- Experience tuning performance in large-scale distributed systems (required).
- The ability to mentor others and influence technical decision-making (required).
- A collaborative, solutions-driven mindset and the ability to work both independently and in team settings (required).
