Technical Game Artist
Evolution is looking for a talented and proactive Technical Game Artist to join the team. In this role, the individual acts as a key link between art, design, and development teams, ensuring both creative and technically high-quality results.
The Technical Game Artist provides technical support to the design team, assisting with complex technical tasks and working with software and tools, including game code and Blueprints. The role involves providing hands-on support to artists and engineers in asset performance and validation, as well as helping to resolve in-game issues and bugs. The position also requires developing and implementing automation processes within the art department, creating game assets and environments on request, and applying character animation knowledge. The Technical Game Artist will develop and maintain technical documentation for team use and stay up to date with current and emerging trends in graphics software and hardware. Collaboration with internal teams to generate ideas for improvements and proposals, and with developers, the design team, and stakeholders is essential. Maintaining project files and ensuring clear communication of delivery timelines, as well as participating in design reviews, team meetings, and brainstorming sessions are also key aspects of the role.
- Provide technical support to the design team, assisting with complex technical tasks and working with software and tools, including game code/Blueprints.
- Provide hands-on support to artists and engineers in asset performance and validation, and help resolve in-game issues and bugs.
- Develop and implement automation processes within the art department.
- Create game assets and environments on request, supporting Game Artists during peak workload periods.
- Apply character animation knowledge, including editing and cleaning animations.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for team use.
- Stay up to date with current and emerging trends in graphics software and hardware.
- Work with internal teams to generate ideas for improvements and proposals.
- Collaborate with developers, the design team, and stakeholders.
- Maintain project files and ensure clear communication of delivery timelines.
- Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and brainstorming sessions.
- Secondary specialised or higher education (required)
- English proficiency B2+ (spoken & written) for performing job duties – working with the company's internal systems and daily communication with other international departments (required)
- 3+ years of experience in game development (required)
- Knowledge of C++, Python, or MAXScript (required)
- Experience with version control (Git, Perforce) (required)
- Familiarity with 3D tools (3ds Max, Maya, Blender, etc.) (required)
- Good knowledge of Unreal Engine (Niagara is a plus) (required)
- Experience with particle systems (required)
- Basic knowledge of Adobe tools (Photoshop, Substance) (required)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail (required)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and create technical documentation (required)
- Ability to work both independently and in a team (required)
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly across teams (required)
- Degree in design, multimedia, or similar (preferred)
- Experience with other game engines (preferred)
- Knowledge of ZBrush or similar tools (preferred)
- Experience with offline renderers (e.g., Corona) (preferred)
- Strong scripting skills (C++, Python, MAXScript) (preferred)
- Understanding of WebGL (preferred)
- Experience with AI tools, neural networks, or LLMs (preferred)
- Experience in the iGaming industry (preferred)
