Investment Strategy Director
FanDuel is looking for a Director of Investment Strategy to lead one of the most important commercial levers in the FanDuel Sportsbook business, specifically focusing on how the company allocates and optimises generosity investment across the customer lifecycle. This role sits at the centre of the generosity ecosystem, partnering with Customer Marketing, Data Science, Finance, Go-to-market, and Analytics teams to ensure that every dollar invested in customers drives long-term value for both the customer and the business.
The Investment Strategy team is responsible for defining the generosity investment philosophy, setting capital allocation frameworks and guardrails, measuring investment effectiveness, and identifying opportunities to improve return on investment and customer impact. The role also involves helping to evolve FanDuel toward more personalised, model-driven investment strategies. This is a highly strategic and commercially impactful position with significant visibility across the organisation.
- Define how FanDuel allocates generosity investment across the customer lifecycle.
- Establish investment principles, capital allocation frameworks, and spend guardrails.
- Build and maintain a clear portfolio view of where generosity dollars are going and what they are driving.
- Partner closely with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and re-forecasting processes.
- Define the measurement hierarchy across different types of generosity and establish clear approaches to evaluating ROI and effectiveness.
- Partner with Analytics and Data Science teams to improve visibility into investment performance and customer value creation.
- Identify areas of over-, under-, and efficient investment and recommend portfolio reallocations over time.
- Help shape the rollout and evolution of Loyalty, Model-Driven Generosity (MDG), and pricing-generosity strategies.
- Influence commercial prioritisation and investment trade-offs across Customer Marketing, GTM, VIP, Product, Finance, and Strategy teams.
- Balance short-term commercial performance with long-term customer value and customer experience.
- Build and lead a small, high-performing team of analysts focused on investment strategy, portfolio analytics, and measurement.
- Help evolve FanDuel toward a more personalised, model-driven customer investment ecosystem.
- Bachelor’s Degree (required)
- 8+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, commercial finance and/or customer marketing (required)
- Strong commercial acumen with a deep understanding of business levers and performance drivers (required)
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance near-term execution and long-term impact (required)
- Experience in online businesses, ecommerce, or regulated industries (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (required)
- Knowledge of online gaming industry (required)
