Senior Data Product Manager

Description

FanDuel is looking for a Senior Product Manager to own Core Data Infrastructure (CDI) within its centralized Data Products team. CDI serves as the foundational layer that powers every data product at FanDuel, including the Databricks lakehouse platform, workflow orchestration, self-service data tooling, and the governance and cost discipline required to maintain platform efficiency and trust.

The Senior Product Manager will set the product direction across four engineering verticals: Data Tooling, Databricks Platform, Data Platform Customer Success, and Data Security. Working closely with senior engineering leadership, the role involves transitioning CDI from an engineering-led backlog to a product-led roadmap defined by clear priorities, defensible metrics, and measurable adoption. This is a high-visibility position responsible for company-wide data reliability, compliance, and platform cost management, contributing directly to the broader Data Platform strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Own the CDI product roadmap end to end, including the Databricks lakehouse platform, Airflow orchestration, and the Stargate self-service data access and provisioning tool.
  • Partner daily with engineering leadership across four verticals to transition planning from engineering-led to product-led using clear decision ownership and dashboard-backed metrics.
  • Drive platform cost governance and FinOps discipline, including managing internal cost estimation tooling and enforcing cost-gate requirements for new infrastructure.
  • Manage data governance, security, and compliance commitments, including SOX controls, attribute-based access control (ABAC), and Unity Catalog governance.
  • Lead the self-service vision for internal data tooling to grow adoption, define success metrics, and reduce reactive support-ticket volume.
  • Represent CDI in the Unified Data Context and semantic layer strategy, partnering with peer Data Product Managers and Central AI to define scope and sequencing.
  • Elicit requirements through problem statements, user stories, and acceptance criteria while maintaining a disciplined backlog.
  • Monitor platform health, including reliability, data quality, and adoption, to continuously re-prioritise the roadmap.
  • Play an active role in the FanDuel Product Management community by sharing best practices and promoting product-led thinking.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner shipping infrastructure, platform, or developer-tooling products (required).
  • Proven track record of turning a large technical backlog into a focused, prioritised roadmap (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Business (required).
  • Master's degree (nice-to-have).
  • Direct experience with modern lakehouse and orchestration technology such as Databricks and Apache Airflow (required).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of data governance and access-control models like Unity Catalog or ABAC (required).
  • Comfort operating in a regulated, compliance-sensitive environment such as SOX (required).
  • Experience owning cost or FinOps workstreams for a data or cloud platform (required).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to negotiate scope and communicate technical trade-offs (required).
  • SQL proficiency for querying platform usage and cost data (required).
  • Familiarity with semantic layer, metrics-registry, or data-catalog concepts (nice-to-have).
  • Knowledge of sports or experience working within a heavily regulated industry (nice-to-have).
Benefits
  • Health plans including fertility and family planning, mental health support, and fitness benefits.
  • Generous paid time off and sick leave.
  • Annual bonus and long-term incentive opportunities.
  • 401k with up to a 5% match.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Pet insurance.
  • 14 paid company holidays.
