Senior FinOps Engineer
FanDuel is looking for a Senior FinOps Engineer to play a key role in optimising cloud financial operations, particularly within AWS and DataDog ecosystems. The role focuses on aligning cloud investments with business goals to ensure that every dollar spent delivers value. This position involves using data and strategy to make impactful decisions that balance performance, security, and efficiency.

- Lead cloud financial management initiatives-cost optimization, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Analyze usage patterns and spending data to uncover insights and savings opportunities.
- Own and manage cloud cost management tools and best practices.
- Collaborate across teams to embed FinOps principles into the broader business strategy.
- Create and enforce smart cloud usage policies that balance performance, cost, and security.
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Stay ahead of the curve with AWS and DataDog offerings, pricing models, and cost trends.
- Mentor teams on cloud financial best practices.
- Define and track key metrics to continuously improve cloud efficiency.
- 3+ years’ experience driving effective FinOps practices at large cloud based organisations (required)
- Deep experience in cloud financial management, with a focus on AWS and DataDog (required)
- Cloud engineering or DevOps skills (required)
- Comfortable with Infrastructure as Code tooling, primarily Terraform (required)
- Strong analytical skills in financial reporting, forecasting, and cost modelling (required)
- Solid understanding of AWS services and how they impact cost structures (required)
- Excellent communication skills-you know how to explain complex ideas simply (required)
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across teams (required)
- Experience with cloud cost management tools (e.g., Datadog Cloud Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer) (required)
- A proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies and driving improvements (required)
- Certifications in AWS, FinOps, or cloud financial management (nice-to-have)
