Senior Software Engineer

Description

FanDuel is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of its Core Marketing Platforms teams. The role involves building and optimising high-performance microservices that power FanDuel's marketing ecosystem. The engineer will work on systems enabling critical capabilities such as real-time customer communications, personalised promotions, and targeted campaign delivery.

The engineer will focus on designing highly scalable, event-driven systems that process large volumes of real-time data, delivering intelligent insights to marketing partners. This position requires a long-term view on system capacity and a commitment to simplifying existing infrastructure by consolidating redundant systems, deleting unnecessary code, or removing/updating out-of-date documentation. The role also involves coaching and developing other software engineers' technical skills and leading projects with a holistic view of the strategic direction of the vertical.

FanDuel expects the engineer to define the architecture of the future, enabling systems to utilise modern technologies to their fullest while achieving goals, balanced with time to focus on operationally improving existing systems. The role requires solving complex problems, taking defined designs and turning them into code, and delivering on schedule using appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices. The engineer will write secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects and participate in team design, scoping, and prioritisation discussions, working effectively with other team members and identifying opportunities or problems arising from technical decisions. The engineer will also participate in the on-call support rotation for the organisation and contribute to the professional development of colleagues.
