Cloud Engineer
Flutter International is recruiting a Cloud Engineer to drive the implementation, automation, and operation of its AWS cloud platform. This platform underpins the global services consumed by the group's betting brands. The role involves shaping technology choices across cloud hosting platforms, working with brands to migrate and modernise services, and promoting knowledge sharing across the engineering community.
The Cloud Engineer will contribute to the evaluation and selection of AWS services, configuration management tooling, and various components required to achieve strategic objectives. The role requires effective articulation of technology requirements and the ability to work with cross-functional global teams, including AWS partners and internal engineering teams. This position follows a hybrid working approach, allowing for a combination of home and office-based work.
- Build and operate a secure, performant, and cost-effective AWS Cloud Platform.
- Automate system deployment and operations using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tooling.
- Maintain source code and artefact repositories.
- Write and review platform code, offering constructive feedback to ensure code quality.
- Enable and support engineering teams with the adoption of cloud services.
- Triage incidents, problems, and risks impacting Flutter cloud services.
- Write and maintain appropriate technical documentation.
- Define, document, support, and approve LLDs for Flutter cloud services.
- Support cloud architecture and function leads with developing the cloud technology roadmap and strategy.
- Act as a trusted SME offering advice and knowledge sharing to the broader technology team and internal customers.
- Create and drive adoption of standard operating procedures, policies, and runbooks.
- Facilitate the development and communication of Flutter Group standards for design, development, and deployment.
- Liaise with other group functions, building and maintaining relationships, and recognising opportunities for strategic collaboration.
- Liaise with Third Party vendors and partners.
- Be part of an on-call rota.
- Experience working with enterprise organisations on large scale migration or modernisation transformation projects (required).
- Building and operating Infrastructure and Cloud platforms, ideally within highly available AWS environments (required).
- Strong network knowledge in the TCP/IP stack, Firewalls and AWS cloud Networking Services (AWS CloudWAN, DNS, AWS Network Firewalls) (required).
- Relocating, rehosting, refactoring and rearchitecting services into AWS (required).
- Working with source control management (Git, GitHub) and CI/CD Pipelines (required).
- Managing deployment assets such as AMIs, container images and artefacts (required).
- Managing Infrastructure as code using CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation (required).
- Orchestration and management of container platforms, preferably using Kubernetes (required).
- Delivering systems in security compliant environments (required).
- Writing and maintaining technical documentation (required).
- Sharing knowledge with peers and across the wider engineering community (required).
- Working in an agile environment (required).
- Incident, change, problem, and risk management (required).
- Previous software engineering experience, coding, and automation (nice-to-have).
