Game Animation Engineer
Flutter International is seeking a Game Animation Engineer to join the Amaze studio, a casino game development team within Flutter Studios. The role focuses on bringing online casino games to life through high-quality animation and efficient technical implementation.
The successful candidate will work within a collaborative environment alongside developers, artists, and other specialists to build engaging and high-performing player experiences. This position involves balancing creative animation skills with technical expertise to ensure polished, smooth, and consistent gameplay across various devices.
The role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing for a combination of working from home and in modern offices. Discussions with a manager will determine the best pattern for both parties, recognising the importance of quality time together for maintaining mission alignment.
- Create and implement high-quality animations, sequences and visual effects for online slot games using assets provided by the Creative team.
- Set up and integrate mesh and skeletal animations, ensuring they perform smoothly and consistently within the game environment.
- Build and stage game scenes and animation sequences, translating creative concepts into polished in-game experiences.
- Collaborate closely with developers, designers, animators and sound designers to bring game concepts to life and deliver cohesive player experiences.
- Integrate animation, VFX and audio elements with game events, ensuring accurate timing, sequencing and visual feedback throughout gameplay.
- Use Spine 2D, Adobe Animate and in-house tools to create, prepare, optimise and integrate animations into games.
- Optimise animation assets and implementation to maintain visual quality while meeting technical and performance requirements across supported devices.
- Test, troubleshoot and refine animation implementations, identifying and resolving visual, timing, integration and performance issues.
- Work within established development workflows and technical standards, ensuring animation assets and implementations are structured, maintainable and ready for production.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the animation pipeline and tools, sharing knowledge and identifying opportunities to make game production more efficient.
- Proactively communicate progress, dependencies, blockers and technical challenges with the wider development team and seek guidance where appropriate.
- Experience with 2D animation tools such as Spine 2D and Adobe Animate with the ability to create and work with skeletal, mesh and timeline-based animations (required).
- Good understanding of core animation principles, including timing, spacing, easing, anticipation, transitions and motion (required).
- Experience preparing and working with visual assets using tools such as Adobe Photoshop or similar creative software (required).
- Understanding of animation implementation within interactive experiences, including sequencing, state changes, transitions and event-driven animation (required).
- Strong technical awareness and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve animation, asset, timing and integration issues (required).
- Understanding of performance and optimisation considerations when creating animations and visual effects for games or other real-time applications (required).
- Great attention to detail with a strong eye for timing, visual quality, consistency and polished player experiences (required).
- Creative and technically minded with an interest in understanding how animation, art, sound, and game logic work together (required).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with developers, designers, animators, artists and sound designers (required).
- Ability to take creative direction and technical requirements and translate them into effective in-game animation solutions (required).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a fast-paced game development environment (required).
- Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, in-house workflows and continuously develop both creative and technical skills (required).
- Experience with Moho, Godot, Cocos2d or other game engines and animation frameworks (nice-to-have).
- Previous experience in game development, interactive animation or real-time content production (nice-to-have).
- Experience with scripting or programming concepts and an interest in the technical implementation of animation (nice-to-have).
- Experience integrating animation, VFX, and audio into interactive experiences (nice-to-have).
- Knowledge or experience of online gaming or casino/slot games (nice-to-have).
