Developer Level 1
Games Global is looking for a Developer Level 1 to join their team in Durban, South Africa. This role focuses on producing quality software and documentation in accordance with agreed specifications while working closely with Technical Leads, Senior Developers, and the QA team.
The successful candidate will follow established team standards and best practices, taking ownership of their work and contributing to the overall success of the development team. This position offers the opportunity to build software at scale and learn from experienced technical leaders within a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Developing and releasing software that meets defined specifications and requirements within agreed timelines
- Contributing to software design and estimates together with your Technical Lead and Senior Developers
- Making sure your development and maintenance work never compromises quality or functionality
- Testing all your changes thoroughly and ensuring existing functionality continues to work as expected
- Working with the QA team and Team Seniors to build high-quality test plans that cover the full scope of development
- Reviewing and fixing defects in line with the team’s quality standards
- Creating and maintaining clear documentation of your software implementation
- Providing timely support for production issues, quickly identifying the scope of the problem
- Supporting dependent teams and giving effective feedback on support issues
- Communicating progress and escalating risks and issues early
- Sharing your knowledge readily with your team
- A 3-year relevant qualification, OR a relevant 1-year certification plus 2 years’ software development experience, OR at least 3 years’ software development experience (required)
- Relevant technical skills and a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) (required)
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot with guidance (required)
- Ability to prioritise effectively and manage your time well (required)
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing needs (required)
- Good written and verbal communication skills (required)
