Software Quality Analyst

Description

Games Global is looking for two Software Quality Analysts to join one of its studios. This role involves owning the quality of medium-complexity projects from end to end, where the successful candidate will be expected to improve existing testing processes while executing their duties.

The Software Quality Analyst will plan, prepare, and drive independent test strategies, manage execution from start to finish, and handle the setup and troubleshooting of testing environments. Beyond individual tasks, the role requires influencing team testing practices and ensuring quality delivery across the studio's portfolio by sharing knowledge and acting as a key voice in release readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Estimate testing effort independently and plan full test coverage without supervision, using available templates, documentation or prior project material as a starting point.
  • Apply risk-based prioritisation and optimisation when planning, rather than aiming for uniform coverage across all areas.
  • Work effectively on projects that are not fully templatized or documented, filling gaps in available information as needed.
  • Review requirements for completeness and testability, and raise ambiguities before test design begins.
  • Complete planning within the allocated timeframe and raise roadblocks early at project level.
  • Plan for uncertain, ambiguous and edge-case scenarios with guidance, and submit the resulting test strategy for review.
  • Coordinate with the team to distribute testing tasks and align the test plan with adjacent delivery teams.
  • Proactively identify, analyse and resolve execution issues, providing assurance that test execution is delivered in line with agreed quality expectations.
  • Manage own execution progress against the plan, and reprioritise as build quality, scope or timelines shift.
  • Supplement scripted execution with exploratory testing where risk, complexity or thin requirements justify it.
  • Set up and troubleshoot environment issues independently on smaller projects, and do so with guidance on medium to large projects.
  • Prepare and maintain the test data needed for planned coverage, including negative and boundary conditions.
  • Escalate software and environment issues appropriately and follow them through to resolution.
  • Apply best practice to defect analysis and reporting, producing clear, reproducible defect records that contribute to the prevention of latent and recurring issues.
  • Assign severity and priority consistently and investigate far enough to distinguish genuine defects from environment, data or configuration causes.
  • Track defects through to closure, including verification and targeted regression once a fix is delivered.
  • Analyse testing outcomes and implement improvements to the overall test approach, directed at successful and repeatable project delivery.
  • Complete test closure activities, including coverage and defect metrics, outstanding risk, and a clear recommendation at sign-off.
  • Contribute lessons learned to retrospectives and carry agreed actions into subsequent projects rather than leaving them as observations.
  • Take responsibility for the proactive resolution of issues arising from project support tasks and manage stakeholder communication and expectations throughout delivery.
  • Report test progress, quality risk and release readiness in terms the audience can act on, technical or otherwise.
  • Represent the quality position honestly under delivery pressure, escalating where risk exceeds what the project has agreed to accept.
  • Adhere to established testing standards and processes and actively identify opportunities to optimise them.
  • Keep test assets and documentation current so that work is auditable and can be picked up by others.
  • Adapt to changing project conditions and keep the team aligned to objectives, promoting innovation, knowledge sharing and skills growth across all competencies at this proficiency level.
  • Lead through influence rather than formal authority, building agreement on quality decisions across testing, development and delivery.
  • Share knowledge of past issues and their resolutions so that solutions are reused rather than rediscovered.
  • Mentor less experienced testers informally, reviewing their work and coaching on approach rather than simply correcting output.
  • Assess projects critically and propose new test strategies and approaches where they will improve outcomes.
  • Create the test strategy and test approach for assigned projects and communicate them clearly to delivery stakeholders.
  • Advise on the testing implications of design, scope and timeline decisions early enough to influence them.
  • Execute load and performance tests with guidance from senior testers and specialists, and interpret the results with support.
  • Understand the performance characteristics and thresholds relevant to the systems under test, and flag degradation against them.
Requirements
  • IT Related degree or diploma (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Testing (required)
  • ISTQB Foundation (required)
  • Understand the SDLC (required)
  • Knowledge of Jira (nice-to-have)
  • Knowledge of Confluence (nice-to-have)
  • Knowledge of Monday.com (nice-to-have)
  • Knowledge of Postman (nice-to-have)
  • Knowledge of SQL (nice-to-have)
  • Knowledge of Jmeter (nice-to-have)
  • Knowledge of Claude (nice-to-have)
