Description

Genius Sports is looking for an exceptional Principal Product Manager to lead its basketball product suite. As part of the Data and AI product team, the successful candidate will work with leading global basketball leagues and federations to build, enhance, and maintain products that capture, process, and deliver basketball data and insights to teams, leagues, media, and betting partners worldwide.

The role involves owning the full basketball product suite, including AI-driven automated eventing, Performance Studio enhancements, next-generation stats, and rich data visualizations. The Principal Product Manager will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and discovery through to build, launch, and ongoing growth. This position operates at the intersection of computer vision, real-time data collection, and advanced sports analytics, requiring the ability to move fluidly between deep technical discussions and strategic executive-level planning.

Responsibilities
  • Understand customer needs across leagues, teams, media, and betting partners; develop requirements and drive delivery of basketball events feeds, statistics feeds, Performance Studio, and Next Generation stats/visualizations.
  • Own the product lifecycle end-to-end - from ideation, discovery, and validation through build, launch, and post-launch growth and iteration - for each product in the basketball portfolio.
  • Define and evangelise a clear, prioritised product roadmap for basketball products, and communicate it consistently to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, data operations, and business teams to ensure basketball product initiatives are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Provide strategic direction on data-informed, long-term investment opportunities for the basketball portfolio, evaluating tradeoffs and prioritizing in consultation with cross-divisional partners.
  • Balance investment across the basketball product portfolio across three horizons - Now/Horizon 1 (0-12 months), Next/Horizon 2 (12-36 months), and Future/Horizon 3 (36+ months)), ensuring a healthy mix of incremental improvement and longer-term innovation.
  • Define KPIs that drive business results for basketball products, build dashboards to measure performance, and make data-driven decisions using both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Partner with commercial, marketing, and operations teams to drive efficient, effective go-to-market motions and continuously gather feedback from leagues, teams, and media/betting partners and translate it into product requirements.
  • Stay current on basketball analytics trends, computer vision tracking technology, and competitor offerings to keep the basketball product suite at the forefront of the industry.
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of relevant product management experience (required).
  • Strong basketball domain knowledge/expertise (required).
  • Product management experience building B2B SaaS or other relevant data feeds/ applications: understanding functional requirements and building for scale (required).
  • Strong grasp of product lifecycle mechanics: discovery, analysis, defining and driving OKRs, ideation, prioritization, and delivering measurable outcomes (required).
  • Experience owning multiple related products or a product portfolio simultaneously, balancing competing priorities across a suite of offerings (required).
  • Extensive background collaborating with UX design partners to build intuitive, user-first experiences (required).
  • Strong background in BI and/or analytics required; experience working on data-oriented or sports statistics products preferred.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership, participating in the sales cycle, and handling sensitive, critical issues (required).
  • Experience working in and delivering products or services in an agile/lean environment, including backlog management (user stories, epics, and bugs) (required).
  • Proficiency in gathering and transforming product requirements into a practical, prioritized product roadmap (required).
  • Prior experience as a basketball statistician, analyst, or a strong passion for basketball and basketball analytics is a plus (nice-to-have).
  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
Benefits
  • The salary for this role is based on an annualized salary range of $230,000 - $270,000.
  • This role will also be eligible to take part in Genius Sports Group's benefits plan.
