Software Engineer, Fan Engagement
Genius Sports is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Fan Engagement team and take ownership of delivering high-quality software end-to-end. In this role, the engineer will design, build, and improve systems while solving moderately complex problems and balancing technical decisions with user impact.
The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and play an active role in mentoring others and strengthening team practices. This position is based in New York and requires an office-first approach, with attendance expected at the office four days a week.
- Own the design, implementation, testing, and delivery of features or subsystems end-to-end.
- Develop and maintain scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems.
- Identify and drive improvements to existing codebases, systems, and development practices.
- Solve moderately complex technical problems with a thoughtful approach to trade-offs.
- Participate in and contribute meaningfully to system design discussions and reviews.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver user-centred solutions.
- Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate them clearly.
- Contribute to a culture of quality through testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Experience developing and delivering production-quality software in a professional or comparable environment (required)
- Proficiency in developing professional web apps and familiarity with modern development frameworks (required)
- Experience owning features or components from design through deployment (required)
- Solid understanding of software development fundamentals, system design, and debugging practices (required)
- Ability to work independently on moderately complex problems with limited guidance (required)
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners, contributing to shared outcomes, and incorporating feedback (required)
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly (required)
- Experience with ReactJS and NodeJS (preferred)
- Experience designing and improving systems or services beyond individual features (preferred)
- Familiarity with performance optimization, scalability, and reliability concepts (preferred)
- Experience mentoring or supporting the growth of other engineers (preferred)
- Exposure to working across teams or contributing to shared systems (preferred)
- Experience with testing strategies, observability, and CI/CD pipelines (preferred)
