Software Engineer, Fan Engagement
Genius Sports is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Fan Engagement team. The role involves contributing to the development and maintenance of software that enhances how sports are experienced.
In this role, the engineer will work independently and collaborate with cross-functional partners to improve the quality and maintainability of systems. The position focuses on delivering value to users while continuing to grow technical and collaborative skills.
- Design, build, test, and maintain features and components with a focus on quality and reliability.
- Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that aligns with team standards.
- Participate in system and component design discussions, contributing ideas and asking thoughtful questions.
- Debug and resolve issues across the stack, with guidance as needed.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver user-centred solutions.
- Contribute to code reviews by giving and incorporating constructive feedback.
- Identify opportunities to improve code quality, performance, and team development practices.
- Support team goals by communicating clearly about progress, blockers, and trade-offs.
- Experience developing professional web apps and familiarity with modern development frameworks (required).
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, such as data structures, APIs, testing, and version control (required).
- Ability to work independently on defined tasks while seeking input when needed (required).
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teammates and incorporating feedback (required).
- Problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and iterate (required).
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English (required).
- Experience with ReactJS and NodeJS (preferred).
- Experience with Kotlin or Spring (nice-to-have).
- Experience contributing to the design of systems or features (preferred).
- Familiarity with debugging and performance optimisation techniques (preferred).
- Experience writing automated tests and working with CI/CD pipelines (preferred).
