Engineering Director – Development Center
The Engineering Director for the Development Center plays a key role in shaping the future of Greentube’s technology landscape and gaming platform. This position combines technical leadership, organisational development, and strategic execution to strengthen and scale a high-performing engineering organisation.
Working closely with teams across Slovenia and Austria, the role drives innovation, engineering excellence, and long-term growth while ensuring strong alignment within an international environment.
- Lead the strategic and operational development of the Slovenian Development Center, ensuring alignment with Greentube’s overall technology vision and business objectives.
- Drive engineering excellence by establishing scalable development standards, governance structures, and best practices across teams.
- Support architectural decisions and technology initiatives that improve scalability, reliability, and long-term sustainability of software solutions.
- Foster a strong engineering culture built on quality, innovation, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Enable efficient delivery by supporting agile ways of working, DevOps practices, CI/CD processes, and performance-driven decision making.
- Monitor operational performance, delivery metrics, and key business indicators to ensure successful execution of goals and initiatives.
- Develop and grow technical teams by supporting talent development, succession planning, and long-term organisational capability building.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the group, including regular interaction with headquarters in Vienna and responsibility for both Slovenian office locations in Ljubljana and Maribor.
- 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, including several years in hands-on software development before moving into engineering leadership (required).
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing software engineering teams, engineering organisations, or development centres (required).
- Strong technical credibility with the ability to discuss software architecture, cloud technologies, distributed systems, DevOps practices, and modern engineering approaches with senior technical stakeholders (required).
- Proven experience building, scaling, or transforming engineering organisations while maintaining engineering quality and technical excellence (required).
- Track record of defining technology strategy and translating architectural vision into successful execution (required).
- Experience mentoring engineering leaders, architects, and senior software engineers while fostering a strong engineering culture (required).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills within international, cross-functional organisations (required).
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking with pragmatic execution (required).
- Experience with budget planning, organisational scaling, and technology investments (nice-to-have).
- Fluent English, both written and spoken (required).
