Risk Lead
Hacksaw Markets is a B2B prediction-market platform that operators can use to offer prediction markets under their own brands. Most markets are listed and settled automatically. A shared order book creates a rare view of exposure across markets, operators and participants. At launch, the Risk Lead will cover operations risk, quantitative risk and surveillance, then grow the function into a round-the-clock desk. The Risk Lead will lead the Risk desk alongside Markets, Settlement, Operators and Compliance, starting hands-on and building the team as the platform expands.
- Define limits across markets, operators and participants, plus the policies that trigger automatic or manual halts.
- Halt markets, cancel trades or change limits when conditions require it, documenting each decision.
- Design surveillance rules for insider patterns, wash trading and coordinated activity across operators.
- Own margin methodology and stress testing until the quantitative function expands.
- Write incident reviews that change a rule, a process or a tool.
- Build the desk across operations risk, surveillance and quantitative risk.
- Trading-risk or exchange-risk experience in an exchange, clearing house, sportsbook or trading environment (required).
- First-hand experience halting a market and defending the decision afterwards (required).
- Comfort with SQL and the judgment to recognise when a number is wrong (required).
- The ability to write policies that engineers can implement and regulators can understand (required).
- Fluent English and calm leadership under pressure (required).
