Graphic Design Team Leader
Hollywood Bets is looking for a Graphic Design Team Leader to manage the design team and ensure daily requirements are met. The role involves handling all design projects from conception to delivery by allocating workflow based on team skill sets, deadlines, and priorities.
The Graphic Design Team Leader oversees multiple portfolios, mentors designers and sales coordinators, and represents the design team in client meetings. The position focuses on maintaining creative direction, design quality control, and brand consistency across all outputs.
- Oversee the design team and the look, feel, and quality of all work generated.
- Act as a liaison between designers and other departments for design job requests.
- Ensure briefs are adequate and contain all necessary information regarding deadlines and scope.
- Coordinate design work using a job ticket system and allocate tasks accordingly.
- Create and maintain processes and systems within the department.
- Conduct team member performance reviews.
- Identify skills gaps and suggest relevant learning and development training.
- Conduct weekly team member and team leader meetings.
- Oversee design progress against schedules, priorities, briefs, and deadlines.
- Provide feedback and request missing information from job requestors.
- Attend and participate in campaign meetings to allocate work and brief the team correctly.
- Implement control measures to ensure design requests are reasonable.
- Review draft designs against briefs to correct errors before client feedback.
- Coordinate and control design submittals for review and approval.
- Ensure adherence to brand guides, standards, and legal requirements.
- Implement corrective measures for issues causing delays.
- Maintain order and standard processes for design files and the stock library.
- Manage the job ticket list and provide reports on job volume and turnaround times.
- Assist designers with special research and technical projects.
- Develop interns and junior designers.
- Assign design champions and maximise the various design strengths within the team.
- Verify print specifications with suppliers to ensure files are print-ready.
- Keep up to date with design trends, training courses, webinars, and seminars.
- Matric (required)
- Diploma/Degree (required)
- 5+ years in a design related position (required)
- Some knowledge of print works (dye sublimation, signage, litho and flexographic printing) (required)
