Description

LeoVegas Group is building a world-class team dedicated to creating the best Sportsbook platform in the market through cutting-edge technology and innovative gaming experiences. The company is searching for a passionate and driven Engineering Manager who will lead teams in Poland and Spain, focusing on the Sports area.

This role involves providing technical leadership and mentorship to a team of senior engineers. While not directly coding on a daily basis, the manager will contribute expertise to architectural discussions, guidance for the teams, and the establishment of engineering best practices.

The Engineering Manager will champion a culture of engineering excellence by defining and implementing processes that enhance code quality, development efficiency, and team collaboration. The role requires a people-first approach, with responsibility for all aspects of people management, including performance evaluations, development plans, 1:1s, and fostering a positive and empowering work environment.

Collaboration with product management is essential to provide technical insights and contribute to the definition of product roadmaps, ensuring alignment between engineering capabilities and business goals. The manager will also coordinate cross-team dependencies and deliver projects on time, leading owned projects and supporting projects led by other teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of senior engineers.
  • Contribute expertise to architectural discussions, guidance for the teams, and the establishment of engineering best practices.
  • Champion a culture of engineering excellence by defining and implementing processes that enhance code quality, development efficiency, and team collaboration.
  • Lead with a people-first approach, including performance evaluations, development plans, 1:1s, and fostering a positive and empowering work environment.
  • Collaborate closely with product management to provide technical insights and contribute to the definition of product roadmaps.
  • Coordinate cross-team dependencies and deliver projects on time.
  • Lead owned projects and support projects led by other teams.
Requirements
  • Solid engineering background, spending at least 5+ years working as an engineer (preferably Java or any other object-oriented backend technology) (required).
  • Experience with microservices-based products and message brokers (we use Kafka) (required).
  • At least 3 years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Team lead (required).
  • People management experience (leading 1:1s, performance evaluations, etc.) (required).
  • Experience with agile methodologies and goals (required).
  • Experience managing more than one single team (nice-to-have).
  • Experience managing remote teams (nice-to-have).
  • Experience working with a high load of real-time data (nice-to-have).
  • Experience working with external data providers (nice-to-have).
