Associate Manager, Software Engineering - Front-End
Light & Wonder is looking for an experienced Development Lead from a JavaScript-oriented development background to join its team of skilled engineers. In this role, the individual will be responsible for creating scalable product solutions that run on the company's leading-edge online casino platform.
The Development Lead position consists of a balance of four main areas of responsibility: Technical leadership, Team leadership, Customer liaison, and Incidents.
Technical leadership involves understanding the platform and technologies used and guiding future direction. Team leadership includes coaching, support, and development of the team. Customer liaison serves as a trusted point of contact between professional service teams, customers, and partners. Incident management involves the management of and escalation path for live production incidents.
- Build UI for games on the next generation casino platform.
- Manage a team of approximately 6-8 developers.
- Manage and contribute to technical end-to-end delivery of games.
- Become a primary point of contact for and maintain strong relationships with both external and internal customers.
- Lead design and code reviews, set coding standards and ensure they are met by deliverables.
- Ensure engineering best practice principles are applied at all times.
- Design solutions that are compatible with the strategic direction of the company.
- Support the recruitment process of technical resources.
- Take ownership for the management of a squad and the software quality and delivery assigned to it.
- Mentor team members and build a healthy, productive culture.
- Liaise with Studio Managers, QA Managers, Project Managers, Game Producers and other team members.
- 8-12 years of experience (required).
- 3+ years of people management skills including experience managing development teams (required).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (required).
- Experience interacting with customers, external partners and business stakeholders (required).
- Demonstrable talent coding in JavaScript / TypeScript and their application with design patterns (required).
- Experience with JavaScript libraries or similar framework (required).
- Disciplined approach to testing (required).
- Good knowledge of large-scale website or application architectures and technology stacks (required).
- Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns (required).
- Experience with various development methodologies such as Agile, TDD or Kanban (required).
- Experience in deploying and configuring Web Applications (required).
- Experience reviewing others work for performance, security, efficiency and portability (required).
- Ability to multi-task and rapidly switch contexts (required).
- 5+ years of experience building web applications (preferred).
- Performance tuning skills, including refactoring, code profiling and monitoring (nice-to-have).
- Automated testing and CI (nice-to-have).
- Some scripting skills such as Bash or Python (nice-to-have).
- Release management and configuration management experience (nice-to-have).
- Bachelors degree in a related field (required).
