Game Animator
Light & Wonder is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Core Animator to join its game art team. This role is responsible for creating high-quality animations, motion graphics, and visual effects for slot games.
The ideal candidate is capable of independently delivering production-ready animations that enhance gameplay, improve player engagement, and maintain consistency with the game's visual direction. The Core Animator works closely with illustrators, designers, developers, and senior artists to bring game concepts to life through compelling motion and polished visual experiences.
- Create high-quality animations for slot symbols, characters, feature screens, UI elements, and game events, including engaging visual effects and motion graphics that enhance gameplay and player experience.
- Translate design requirements and creative briefs into polished, production-ready animations that align with established art styles, project objectives, and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with illustrators, designers, developers, and production teams throughout the development process.
- Create and iterate animation solutions based on creative and technical feedback.
- Optimize animation assets to balance visual quality, technical constraints, and smooth in-game performance.
- Participate in creative reviews, discussions, and problem-solving sessions, contributing ideas to improve animation quality, workflows, and implementation processes.
- Take ownership of assigned animation features and ensure timely delivery with minimal supervision.
- Proactively identify animation or implementation challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Support Associate Animators through guidance, feedback, and knowledge sharing when required.
- Contribute ideas during creative reviews and support continuous improvement of animation workflows.
- Strong understanding of animation principles including timing, spacing, anticipation, squash and stretch, overlap, follow-through, and appeal. (required)
- Proficiency in animation tools such as Spine, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate, or equivalent software. (required)
- Ability to create polished, production-ready animations for games. (required)
- Good understanding of motion design, visual storytelling, and player engagement. (required)
- Knowledge of animation optimization techniques for game production. (required)
- Strong attention to detail and quality. (required)
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team. (required)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills. (required)
- 3 to 5 years of experience in animation, motion graphics, game development, or a related field. (required)
- Strong portfolio showcasing animation quality, motion design, and gameplay-related work. (required)
- Experience creating animations across multiple art styles and themes. (required)
- Experience in gaming, mobile gaming, or iGaming. (preferred)
- Experience in slot game development. (nice-to-have)
