Senior Platform Engineer
OpenBet is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate its on-premises infrastructure. This role serves as a technical backbone for the platforms that maintain the reliability of betting and gaming systems around the clock.
The engineer will work across virtualisation, storage, networking, and security domains. Collaboration with DevOps, SRE, and Database Engineering teams is essential to ensure the hybrid on-premises and cloud estate remains reliable, secure, and audit-ready.
- Build and operate on-premises VMware virtual infrastructure including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
- Support on-premises storage operations such as SAN, NAS, and enterprise flash platforms including performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions for virtualised workloads.
- Maintain network configurations for on-premises environments including VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Build and improve infrastructure automation using Ansible to reduce manual operations.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure security hardening standards at the hypervisor, OS, and network level.
- Contribute to security and compliance audit readiness by maintaining documentation and access control records.
- Provide infrastructure-level support for database platforms in collaboration with Database Engineering.
- Support data centre operations including physical infrastructure management and environmental monitoring.
- Significant, hands-on experience designing and operating on-premises infrastructure including data centre, networking, hardware, and enterprise storage (required).
- Deep hands-on expertise with VMware virtualisation including vSphere, ESXi, clustering, and virtual networking (required).
- Strong automation skills with proven experience using Ansible in production environments (required).
- Working familiarity with AWS fundamentals to collaborate on hybrid connectivity (required).
- Strong grounding in network architecture including routing, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancing (required).
- Comfort working with database infrastructure including storage performance, high availability, and backup (required).
- Experience contributing to security and compliance audits with an eye for documentation and access governance (required).
