The role is for an SDET with 5+ years of experience in automation engineering. The position requires deep programming knowledge with a habit of writing clean code. Comprehensive API testing skills are essential, including understanding REST internals, contract validation, edge cases, and authentication flows like OAuth2 and JWT, with proficiency in tools like httpx/requests. Practical gRPC experience is also required, covering proto definitions, unary and server-streaming calls, status codes, metadata, and the ability to build gRPC test clients from scratch.
Candidates should possess knowledge of programming patterns such as SOLID and OOP, and demonstrate a systematic approach to test stabilization, including flakiness root-cause classification, retry logic, deterministic teardown, and test data isolation. Mastery of pytest, including fixtures, conftest hierarchy, plugins, markers, and parametrize, is necessary, along with experience contributing to shared multi-team automation frameworks.
Solid understanding of GitLab CI, including multi-stage pipelines, job dependencies, artifacts, triggered pipelines, parallelization, and job-level troubleshooting, is expected. The role also requires the ability to produce clear technical documentation, such as test strategies, coverage maps, and risk assessments, and to communicate trade-offs effectively to both engineering and product teams. Experience with web automation tools like Playwright/Selenium, the POM pattern, and cross-browser testing is required. Familiarity with XRay/Jira for test case management, JQL, test plans, and test sets, as well as ReportPortal for launch hierarchy, nested steps, and pytest integration, is also necessary.
Additional requirements include experience building internal QA tooling (dashboards, schedulers, integrations) and familiarity with web-gRPC (sonora or similar) and HTTP/2 transport nuances. C# familiarity is also a plus. The role involves actively contributing to the improvement of the test framework and testing infrastructure, mentoring QAEs in test automation practices, performing regular code reviews, and safeguarding product quality through proactive testing and automation strategies. This includes accessing automation needs in the domain, advocating for quality engineering best practices, supporting developers in creating automated tests, contributing to CI/CD quality gates, and leveraging risk-based testing approaches.
