Senior Microsoft Platform & Security Engineer

The Senior Microsoft Platform & Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and continuously improving Play’n GO’s Microsoft cloud, identity, endpoint and security platforms. The role focuses on building secure, scalable and well-governed Microsoft services across Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Defender, while ensuring the platform supports business needs, security requirements and a modern employee experience.

This is a senior hands-on engineering role with responsibility for shaping the technical direction of Play’n GO’s Microsoft environment, strengthening security posture, reducing operational friction and enabling secure, efficient use of Microsoft technologies across the organisation.

• Design, implement and continuously improve Microsoft cloud platform services across Play’n GO, with a primary focus on Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Defender.
• Own and develop the technical roadmap for Microsoft identity, endpoint, collaboration and security capabilities in alignment with IT and security strategy.
• Design and maintain secure identity and access management capabilities, including Entra ID, conditional access, MFA, enterprise applications, identity governance and privileged access controls.
• Design, configure and improve endpoint management capabilities using Microsoft Intune, including device compliance, configuration profiles, application deployment, update management, endpoint security baselines and Windows Autopilot.
• Design, configure and improve Microsoft Defender capabilities, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Cloud Apps and Microsoft Secure Score.
• Strengthen Microsoft security posture through secure configuration, policy enforcement, threat protection, monitoring, compliance controls and continuous improvement.
• Implement and improve governance across Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams and related collaboration platforms.
• Evaluate Microsoft roadmap updates, security recommendations, product changes and new capabilities, recommending and implementing improvements where they add security, business or operational value.
• Drive automation and standardisation across Microsoft platform operations, including provisioning, configuration, reporting, alerting and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with IT Operations, Security, Service Delivery and business stakeholders to design solutions that are secure, maintainable and user-friendly.
• Provide expert guidance on Microsoft platform architecture, configuration, security, troubleshooting and best practices.
• Support security assessments, audits, investigations and remediation activities related to Microsoft cloud services, endpoint management and Microsoft security technologies.
• Work with Microsoft and external partners where needed to resolve complex platform issues or deliver improvements.
• Document platform architecture, configurations, standards, decisions, security controls and operational processes.
• Contribute to reducing complexity, improving reliability and increasing the value Play’n GO gets from its Microsoft investment.

• Strong experience designing, implementing and improving Microsoft cloud services in an enterprise environment. (required)
• Deep knowledge of Entra ID, including identity lifecycle, conditional access, MFA, enterprise applications, access governance and privileged access concepts. (required)
• Strong experience with Microsoft Intune for endpoint management, device compliance, configuration, application deployment, endpoint security and Windows Autopilot. (required)
• Solid experience with Microsoft Defender technologies, especially Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. (required)
• Good understanding of the broader Microsoft Defender suite, including Defender for Identity, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Cloud Apps and Microsoft security recommendations. (required)
• Good understanding of Microsoft 365 administration and governance, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams. (required)
• Strong understanding of Microsoft security and compliance capabilities across identity, endpoint, email, collaboration and cloud services. (required)
• Experience translating security and operational requirements into practical Microsoft platform designs. (required)
• Ability to troubleshoot complex Microsoft platform issues and identify long-term improvements rather than short-term fixes. (required)
• Experience working with automation, scripting or infrastructure-as-code approaches, preferably using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph or related tools. (required)
• Strong documentation skills, including technical design, standards, security controls and operational procedures. (required)
• Ability to work independently, influence technical direction and collaborate across IT, Security and business teams. (required)
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel or security operations integrations. (preferred)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, retention, sensitivity labels, audit and compliance features. (preferred)
• Experience with Power Platform governance. (preferred)
• Experience with Azure security capabilities such as Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy or workload security recommendations. (preferred)
• Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, Identity and Access Administrator Associate, Endpoint Administrator Associate, Security Operations Analyst Associate or Cybersecurity Architect Expert. (preferred)
