Compliance Engineer

Description

Playson is seeking a Software Developer, Compliance, to own the engineering of its compliance pipeline. This role involves building and continuously evolving a secure system that allows Playson to ship games and platform changes faster and more safely. The developer will act as the technical authority when interacting with certification labs, ISO assessors, and future SOC 2 auditors.

The role requires a developer who can treat the compliance pipeline as a product, replacing manual evidence collection and tribal knowledge with automated controls and robust audit trails. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical side of game certification, ensuring that all evidence is accurate and that every deficiency is addressed before a release passes the pre-release gate.

Responsibilities
  • Build and continuously evolve a secure compliance pipeline to facilitate faster and safer product releases.
  • Defend technical implementations during interactions with certification labs, ISO assessors, and auditors.
  • Manage the technical side of game certification, including producing evidence such as build hashes, PAR sheets, configuration snapshots, and version manifests.
  • Answer technical questions from labs and regulators with requested evidence.
  • Confirm that all deficiencies are closed before games pass the pre-release gate.
  • Automate controls and tighten audit trails to replace manual evidence collection and one-off screenshots.
  • Verify that game math code matches the documentation provided to labs.
  • Write tooling to make compliance checks repeatable.
  • Communicate precisely and factually with auditors and certification labs.
  • Escalate regulatory interpretations to the Head of Compliance when necessary.
Requirements
  • 3+ years writing production code (required).
  • Strong Node.js and TypeScript (required).
  • Experience working for an iGaming game provider, lottery, or another business where products require certification (required).
  • Ability to build pipelines, not checklists, and turn manual, high-stakes processes into engineered solutions (required).
  • Ability to read data and write queries, including SQL against a production analytics store and log investigation (required).
  • Composure in front of an auditor, answering questions precisely and factually with requested evidence (required).
  • Ability to write clearly and permanently, ensuring documentation survives scrutiny years later (required).
  • Ability to say no calmly, specifically, and finally when a change does not pass the gate (required).
  • Direct dealings with a certification lab (GLI, BMM, eCOGRA, iTech Labs, or similar) (nice-to-have).
  • Hands-on evidence work for ISO 27001, SOC 2, or an equivalent information-security audit (nice-to-have).
  • Understanding of RNG, RTP mathematics, and how statistical certification evidence is produced (nice-to-have).
  • Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction licensing (UKGC, MGA, and regulated EU and LatAm markets) (nice-to-have).
  • Experience with observability and alerting tooling (Datadog or equivalent), including building automation on top of it (nice-to-have).
  • Experience with change-management controls, audit trails, and segregation-of-duties models (nice-to-have).
  • Incident response experience, particularly where the incident had a regulatory or audit dimension (nice-to-have).
Benefits
  • Competitive Salary
  • Quarterly Bonuses
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off
  • Unlimited Paid Sick Leave
  • Remote & Flexible Working
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Financial Support for Life Events
  • Professional Development Budget
