AI Security Engineer (Application Security)
Playtech's Security unit is looking for a proactive AI Security Engineer (Application Security) with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You'll be part of our Application Security team, doing the security engineering work the team is known for, with a focus on the AI-powered features and systems we build.
The successful candidate will perform threat modelling and security design reviews for applications, with a focus on AI and LLM-powered features. They will work closely with security, engineering and data science teams to identify, analyse and mitigate security vulnerabilities. The role also involves reviewing the security of AI application architecture, testing AI features adversarially, defining guardrails, and helping to build secure-by-default patterns and guidance.
- Perform threat modelling and security design reviews for applications, with a focus on AI and LLM-powered features.
- Work closely with security, engineering and data science teams to identify, analyse and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- Review the security of AI application architecture, including RAG pipelines, agent and tool-calling flows, model APIs and integrations.
- Test AI features adversarially for prompt injection, data leakage, jailbreaks and unsafe output handling.
- Define guardrails, input and output validation, and monitoring for AI systems.
- Help build secure-by-default patterns and guidance so teams can ship AI features safely.
- Support development by using commercial and open source security technologies.
- Track the evolving AI threat landscape and translate it into practical standards for our teams.
- Have application security experience (secure code review, threat modelling, vulnerability management) (required).
- Have great written and spoken English (required).
- Have higher education in the field of IT, or equivalent practical experience (required).
- Understand how LLM and ML systems are built and deployed, and can reason about their failure modes (required).
- Have experience with at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.) and scripting ability (required).
- Have great analytical skills and can find solutions to problems (required).
- Are positive and proactive, and comfortable working across teams (required).
- Familiarity with AI security frameworks such as the OWASP LLM Top 10, MITRE ATLAS or NIST AI RMF (nice-to-have).
- Hands-on experience red-teaming AI models or AI-powered applications (nice-to-have).
- Experience with AI security or guardrail tooling (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity with security tools like Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, SAST/DAST tools or other similar (nice-to-have).
- Knowledge of secure coding and design practices, and the secure software development lifecycle (nice-to-have).
- Understanding of data governance and privacy considerations in training and inference (nice-to-have).
- Collaboration and teamwork to share and work together to solve challenges.
- Support continuous development through mentorship, training and hands-on experience.
