Database Administrator
Playtech's Infrastructure unit is looking for a Database Administrator with a proactive mindset and strong analytical thinking.
The role involves working with the company’s global database platform daily operations, from initial setup to tools development. This includes working with high-volume databases in a complex environment with many moving parts.
The successful candidate will plan and execute all aspects of database administration to achieve maximum stability and availability. They will also install and upgrade databases and high-availability solutions, develop automation, monitoring and other tooling, and participate in an on-call rotation to support database-related production incidents.
- Work with the company’s global database platform daily operations - from initial setup to tools development.
- Work with high-volume databases in a complex environment with many moving parts.
- Plan and execute all aspects of database administration to achieve maximum stability and availability.
- Install and upgrade databases and high-availability solutions for databases.
- Develop automation, monitoring and other tooling.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support database-related production incidents.
- Solid hands-on experience with MySQL database administration (required).
- Good understanding of general IT concepts, especially networks and Linux/Unix operating systems (required).
- Collaborative team player who is open to new ideas and modern approaches (required).
- Ability to solve technical problems and handle moderately complex challenges (required).
- Proactive mindset (required).
- Motivated to grow technical expertise and continuously expand knowledge (required).
- Basic to intermediate scripting experience (Python, Bash, or similar) to support automation and tooling (required).
- Knowledge or hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (nice-to-have).
- Experience working with AWS database services (nice-to-have).
- Exposure to running databases on Kubernetes, especially using MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL operators (nice-to-have).
