Database Administrator (MS SQL Server)
Playtech's Corporate IT unit is looking for a Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL Server) to help ensure the reliability, performance, and security of critical database environments that support its global operations.
The successful candidate will install, upgrade, maintain, and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environments. They will monitor database performance, proactively identify and resolve issues, and ensure backups and recovery processes align with company standards. The role also involves implementing improvements in database maintenance, security, and protection, as well as managing incidents, requests, and changes within agreed service levels.
Collaboration with project managers, developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders is key. The role supports both development and production environments, and involves documenting processes and monitoring application performance metrics.
- Install, upgrade, maintain, and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Ensure backups and recovery processes are aligned with company standards.
- Implement improvements in database maintenance, security, and protection.
- Manage incidents, requests, and changes within agreed service levels.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders.
- Support both development and production environments.
- Document processes and monitor application performance metrics.
- 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments (required)
- Strong experience with MS SQL and T-SQL (required)
- Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server Always-ON Availability groups (required)
- Strong understanding of DMVs, Extended Events, SQL Profiler, and Query (required)
- Experience managing Azure-hosted SQL instances (required)
- Understanding of SQL backup and recovery strategies (required)
- Solid knowledge of Windows operating systems (required)
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail (required)
- Ability to take ownership of work and effectively manage competing priorities (required)
- Experience with PostgreSQL (nice-to-have)
- Experience with MySQL or MariaDB (nice-to-have)
- Experience with Linux operating systems (nice-to-have)
- PowerShell scripting experience (nice-to-have)
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (nice-to-have)
