Scala Developer
Playtech's GPAS unit is looking for an experienced Scala Developer with excellent engineering skills.
The role involves participating in software design, development, refactoring, support, and code reviews to maintain high development standards. The developer will collaborate with platform teams to deliver great results and work autonomously on tasks with little or no supervision. The role also includes optimizing the platform to achieve maximum throughput and scalability, and being proactive to go beyond expectations.

- At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing server-side applications in Scala (required).
- Strong working knowledge of Scala (preferably Scala 3) and SBT (Scala Build Tool) (required).
- Solid experience with Pekko/Akka, including HTTP, Actors, Cluster, Persistence, Streams, and connectors (required).
- Strong understanding of the JVM, data structures, and algorithms (required).
- Excellent knowledge of parallel and concurrent programming principles (required).
- Practical experience building high-scale, distributed systems with complex interfaces and integrations (required).
- Ability to take ownership, drive solutions forward, and continuously improve systems and processes (required).
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and critical thinking (required).
- Willingness to document solutions and actively share knowledge with colleagues (required).
- Clear and effective communication in English (required).
- Previous experience in the iGaming domain (nice-to-have).
- Experience working with Typesafe Config (nice-to-have).
- Hands-on experience with Couchbase or other document-based NoSQL database (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity with AWS services such as S3 and DynamoDB (nice-to-have).
- Experience using Play JSON (nice-to-have).
- Proficiency with ScalaTest for testing (nice-to-have).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Nomad, or Kubernetes (nice-to-have).
- Confidence working in Linux environments (nice-to-have).
